Purpose and Reason:

This amended rule reflects updates to the Administration for Children & Families’ Child Abuse and Prevention Treatment Act (CAPTA) policy regarding the information that must be disclosed to the public about a case of child abuse or neglect that results in a fatality or near fatality. In the amendment of this rule, consideration was given to the following: (1) alternative approaches and(2) overlap or duplication with other statutory and regulatory provisions. No alternative approach or duplication or overlap was identified based upon available information. No changes were made in the final rule.
